Evil Dead star Jessica Lucas has joined the cast of Pompeii.
The 27-year-old Canadian actress is the latest addition to Paul W.S. Anderson’s star-studded 3D film, according to Deadline.
The movie is set in the days before the 79 A.D. eruption of Mount Vesuvius in the Gulf of Naples, Italy, when a village is enslaved by an evil Roman senator, played by Kiefer Sutherland.
Jessica will portray a slave and confidante to a character named Flavia, depicted by Emily Browning.
Game of Thrones star Kit Harington will play a fellow slave on a mission to save Flavia from perishing in the disaster afoot.
Mad Men star Jared Harris is playing Kit’s slave master in the film,
and the father of Emily’s character.
Pompeii is currently shooting on location in Italy and will later move lensing to Toronto.
Jessica first won acclaim for her role in Matt Reeves’ 2008 sci-fi thriller Cloverfield.
She will next be seen in Are We Officially Dating, co-starring Zac Efron, Michael B. Jordan and Miles Teller. The Tom Gormican romantic comedy about three Manhattan bachelors is scheduled to hit cinemas later this year. http://arabia.msn.com
