Who to cast in Milkha's role, gave Rakeysh Mehra sleepless nights

Mumbai: Filmmaker Rakyesh Omprakash Mehra, geared up for the release of 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag', based on Milkha Singh, confesses that the search for an actor to play the former athlete gave him sleepless nights.
He finally zeroed in for Farhan Akhtar to play the part in the movie, penned by the National award-winning Prasoon Joshi.
"It took us two and a half years to write the script of 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag'. Prasoon Joshi has written the screenplay. But once the script was ready, the biggest question was who will play Milkha Singh? It gave me a lot of sleepless nights," Mehra said here Tuesday.

"I could not sleep at nights due to the tension that who will play this role," he recounted on the set of singing reality show 'Indian Idol Junior', where he was present with Farhan to promote the movie.
'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' talks about Milkha's struggle, his perseverance as an athlete and also his courageous human spirit.
Mehra said he wanted such an actor for the role, who has his own interpretation for the character.
"I would not say this role is difficult but with the kind of films that are made in our cinema, it's a very different role. It requires more of the interpretation of an actor," Mehra, known for films like 'Aks', 'Rang De Basanti' and 'Delhi 6', said.
"We were not making an exact copy of Milkha Singh, and there shouldn't have been mimicry and all that. Suddenly one morning Farhan's name came to my mind. I immediately messaged him. Then we met, spoke and this is how it was done," he added.
Releasing July 12, 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' features Sonam Kapoor opposite Farhan.

Blackout Of Bollywood Movies In Pakistan On Eid

Mumbai: It has come to the notice of media that exhibitors and distributors in Pakistan have decided to clamp down the flicks of Shahrukh Khan and Akshay Kumar on Eid in August.
Chennai Express, starring Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone and Once Upon A Time in Mumbai Again, starring Akshay Kumar and Imran Khan are panned to line up at box office on August 8 but they will remain unreleased in Pakistan.
Pakistanis have deliberately planned to clamp down the Bollywood flicks because deep within they know that Bollywood films will snatch away the crowd towards the Indian big banner films and the Pakistanis won't succeed in promoting their movies on the propitious festive season of Eid.

Tanuj Garg, CEO of Balaji Motion Pictures (producers of Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai Again), was quoted as saying, "Though we have not yet received any official notification from the Pakistani authorities, if this is true, it will surely be really sad. In fact I feel that this is really amazing and bizarre that an industry that thrives on Bollywood films can take such a decision. If you look at the Pakistani market there has been a revival, thanks to Bollywood films. But all the same, if we do receive a notification, we will need to discuss this matter, since you cannot just blackout any film for your indigenous cinema, though you have all the right to revive it through better means."

Well, Bollywood will culminate in a loss because of the banned films as it earns a decent chunk from the oversea collection from Pakistan where Hindi films are appreciated.

The blackout will ensure a loss for the Pakistani exhibitors as well.

Sources tell that that there has so far, not been any official confirmation of the blackout of Akshay Kumar and Shahrukh Khan's Eid releases in Pakistan by the authorities there.

In the past, Bollywood films like Ek Tha Tiger and Agent Vinod have faced ban in Pakistan but the reason was entirely different. It was alleged that these films portray Pakistani spy agencies in poor light.

Love thy neighbour: Salman Khan moves in closer to Shah Rukh Khan

The beefy actor’s new 100-crore home is reportedly just two doors away from SRK's 'Mannat'
After living for over two decades in a small apartment in Mumbai, Salman Khan has finally decided to fork out a fortune and move out from his Galaxy apartment.
If the Bollywood grapevine is to be believed, Sallu's current pad, which is only about 500-600 sq. ft., is getting a little too tight for his dogs and other paraphernalia.
However, the beefy actor has continued to live there for decades as the rest of his family, including his parents, step-mom and siblings, live in the same building.
Salman has been house hunting in Mumbai (and Dubai) for quite some time.
As luck would have it, he found something that he liked in 'Sagar Resham', an apartment building just two doors away from his best-friend-turned-enemy Shah Rukh Khan's mansion on Mumbai's Bandra Bandstand ‘Mannat’.
Will physical proximity bring the ‘warring’ Khans closer?
And, is this the first step by Salman to bring their cold war to a peaceful end?
Or is it simply that Salman couldn't care less about who his neighbours are as long as he finds a decent accomodation. After all, in a city like Mumbai it isn’t easy to find a good place to live-in even though he might be ready to shell out crores of Indian currency for a bigger bachelor pad. (google news)
